ARMAGNAC

In France's Western France, it's found the region of Armagnac. It' is the oldest of France's Brandies with roots back tp the 10th century. Armagnac is distilled from wine.  Armagnac is produced in a small farms in Gascony, on the southwest France.

Armagnac is France's oldest spirit. The first mention of it dates back to 1310. "This water, if taken medically and soberly is said to have 40 virtues" Vital Dufour wrote.

This is a spirit for Connoisseurs, for gourmets attached to the Traditional of French Gastronomy

ARMAGNAC CLASSIFICATION

Armagnac's grapes are: 

  • Baco Blanc

  • Chenin Colombard

  • Folle Blanche

  • Ugni Blanc

Three-stars or VS

Armagnac is a mix of different Armagnacs that spend at least one year in wood.

VSOP

The ageing is at least four years in wood.

XO & HORS D'AGE

Older Armagnacs are sold as Vintage. Armagnac comes from single year and has been aged of a minimum of 10 years.

Blanche is essentially the Armagnac that comes directly out of the still or alambic. The Blanche is stored for three months in an inert container to bring the alcohol level down from above 60% to 45%.Blanche has always existed, but it only receives France's highly APPELLATION d'ORIGIN Controlee (AOC) status on 2005. This is a recognition of its production method as well as its geographic origins
